Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
