Major Russian Assaults Cut Power Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced interruptions to water systems, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the city came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were wounded.

The attacks follow nights of air raids in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to spot.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
